TIPS FOR YOUR FIRST DAY ON THE SLOPES
Here’s some tips for your first day on the slopes.
All GETSkiing packages at Jiminy Peak are sold at the GET desk in the Doc Maynard building. Beginner classes go out at 9am 11am and 1:30pm
Dress COMFORTABLY and in layers
If you can, leave the jeans at home and borrow snow pants from a friend. A ski-type jacket is also a great idea. Here’s a list of other good things to wear or bring with you:
A HAT is very important
Goggles or Sunglasses
Long underwear
Only one pair of socks
A turtleneck and/or neck gaiter – scarves can become loose and get in the way
Water-resistant or water proof mittens or gloves
Sweater or Polar Fleece pullover
Take a Lesson! Don’t Let Your Friend Teach You to Ski
You wouldn’t let an amateur perform a root canal on you, so why let a friend try to teach you to ski? That’s what professional ski instructors are for. Think of ski classes as shortcuts to proficiency and fun.
Children Get Their Own Special Classes and Play Time
Jiminy Peak offers special classes and day care programs for youngsters 12 & under. More information about SKIWee can be found in the SKIWee brochure
LEARN TO SKI OR SNOWBOARD
It’s time to GETSkiing or Learn to Ride with the Burton LTR Program!
At the new Doc Maynard GET Center, everything you need for learning to ski or ride is in one convenient place – rentals, instructors, even lockers!
Here’s How It Works
The new Guaranteed Easy Turn skis are much shorter than you may have tried before, yet they perform in much the same way as longer shaped skis. There’s just not so much to get in your way. Their unique design actually encourages easy turns, without you expending all your energy trying to force them around. With professional coaching, in just a couple of hours, you’ll start getting the hang of it.
In 2006, we were named a Burton Learn To Ride center and Kids LTR. Thank you Burton for recognizing Jiminy as a great resort to learn how to snowboard.
What Makes Guaranteed Easy Turn (GETSkiing) a Sure Thing
With our GETSkiing packages, we’ll put these hot little skis on your feet (with ski boots, of course). You’ll join a teaching pro for a coaching session on the slopes. We GUARANTEE if you are not having more fun than you imagined, the next session’s on us. Give us a couple of hours and we’ll make a skier out of you. That’s all it takes to get started on your new winter fun adventures. Our first time skier or snowboarder package includes beginner lift ticket, lesson and rental equipment.
GET lessons start at 9 am, 11 am and 1:30 pm. In season, packages are sold at the GET desk in the Doc Maynard building on weekends and holidays. Packages are sold in the Rental Shop in the Thatcher building Monday through Friday, non-holiday. After March 6, GETSkiing and GETSnowboarding packages will be sold in the rental shop everyday.
